Mexico says it does not accept Russian invasion of Ukraine

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador stated on Saturday that Mexico doesn’t settle for the Russian invasion of Ukraine in a video message launched to coincide with a global occasion in assist of Ukrainian victims of the battle.

“We don’t settle for Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, as a result of we’ve suffered from invasions,” stated Lopez Obrador, referencing the Spanish, French, and American invasions of the Latin American nation.

“We’re in favor of a peaceable resolution to the battle.”

Earlier this week, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau had invited Lopez Obrador to attend the occasion he convened with European Fee President Ursula von der Leyen to lift funds for Ukrainian refugees and internally displaced people.

Whereas Lopez Obrador stated on Wednesday he was unable to attend, he had promised to launch a video “to sentence the invasion.”

Lopez Obrador has tried to stay impartial within the battle and has declined to impose sanctions in opposition to Russia.

Whereas his government backed a United Nations vote urging Russia to withdraw its forces from Ukraine, Mexico abstained in a vote on Thursday on the United Nations Basic Meeting (UNGA) on suspending Russia from the U.N.’s human rights physique.
