DWI suspect sparks chain response crash involving HPD patrol unit, police say


HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — Two officers have been taken to the hospital Sunday morning after a crash on the Southwest Freeway, based on Houston police.

The crash occurred at about 5:15 a.m. within the 8500 block of the Southwest Freeway, the place an HPD officer patrol unit was struck on the correct shoulder whereas blocking visitors for a Dodge Ram truck that had run out of fuel.

Because the Ram truck was being loaded onto a tow truck, police stated the motive force of a pink Ford Focus had been touring in the correct lane and rear ended the patrol automotive, sparking a series response. The patrol automotive was pushed onto the Dodge Ram.

The tow truck driver, who was standing subsequent to the Ram, was hit by the door of the truck in the course of the affect, based on police.

The officer who was within the driver’s seat was taken to Memorial Hermann with a concussion. A second officer who was within the passenger seat was taken to the hospital with potential minor accidents.
